Episode Three Batch From Scratch - The Shah Family
Catch-em batching this week from Potters Bar with the Shah family. Panna juggles her part-time job with running a busy home with 3 generations under one roof, and with each member wanting to eat different things, pleasing the family at mealtimes is a struggle. What's more, husband Bunty needs a low-fibre diet to manage his Crohn’s Disease, so chooses ready meals and expensive takeaways. All-in-all, this multi-diet living is hitting their pockets and the amount of time Panna spends in the kitchen.

Watch the episode on Monday 3 March at 8pm on Channel 4 or stream on 4OD after the episode has aired.
Introducing the Shah family... ‘Planning for the family at mealtimes is non-existent. I want my kids and family to eat healthily.’
In this episode, Joe and Suzanne help Panna cook up easy, tasty meals to keep the whole family happy and teach Bunty how to make healthy, low-fibre alternatives to his takeaways. Their new-found cooking know-how means less mealtime stress and health worries and more time to spend altogether.

Tips that helped the Shahs to Batch Cook
- 1
Low fibre veg
Courgettes have under 1g of fibre per portion - Add for an extra veggie hit. Cauliflowers & squash are also low in fibre
- 2
Make your own breadcumbs
Use leftover bread to make your own breadcrumbs for coating chicken, veggies or prawns – a cheaper alternative!
- 3
Freeze your leftovers!
Use your freezer! Lemon slices can be turned into citrusy ice cubes and leftover wine can be frozen and added to stews.
- 4
Buy chicken in bulk
It’s cheaper and can be batch cooked for more than one meal to feed the family. Any chicken you don’t used can be frozen
