What is our Fresh Promise

Our Fresh Promise is a money back guarantee on fresh fruit and veg for every Lidl customer.

Our quality of fresh fruit and veg has always been a driving factor for customers when shopping at Lidl and with our money back guarantee, we aim to stand by our promise.

We always try to source as locally as possible. We locate our regional distribution centres in close vicinity to our suppliers and work closely with suppliers to agree great product specifications. Our stock is quality checked before intake to ensure each product falls within the specification agreed.

Steps We Take To Ensure Freshness

Quality Checks

Prior to being taken in, all our fresh produce is quality checked at our depot. Our Buyers are also involved in the checking process, providing feedback to our suppliers where necessary whilst our Shift Managers, Deputy Store Managers and Store Managers receive a comprehensive day’s training on Advanced Freshness. What’s more, our produce is checked for freshness at least every two hours.

Our citrus produce is frequently checked for juice content, our peaches, pears and apples are checked for pressure and our stone fruit, berries and melons are checked on a depot level for sweetness.

Best Before Dates

We only use best before dates where it is legally required. This helps us to reduce food waste and keep stock on shelves for our customers that is still great in quality.
